The Safari Service for Reading Tech Books
Safari is fee based service offered by Sam's Publishing and O'reilly, as separate services. It includes a huge assortment of books from various publishers in a virtual library, where you may check out up to ten books at a time - a very robust virtual personal library. It has useful search features, a huge library, and a simple interface.

Az elmúlt évtizedek többé-kevésbé feloldották ezt a problémát, egyensúlyt hozva létre a különböző igények között, ahogy a jelenleg hatályos szerzői jogi törvény is mondja preambulumában: "a korszerű szerzői jogi szabályozás (...) egyensúlyt teremt és tart fenn a szerzők és más jogosultak, valamint a felhasználók és a széles közönség érdekei között". Ez az egyensúly azonban igen kényes. Az ellentétes érdekek újra és újra összecsapnak, különösen olyan korszakban, amely évről évre új technikai eljárásokat nyújt a művek felhasználásához. A könyvtárak hagyományos működését a szerzői jog szabad felhasználási esetkörök bevezetésével támogatta, a könyvtárak pedig hosszú gyakorlatuk alapján nem sértették a művek rendes felhasználását, így nem veszélyeztették a szerzők megélhetését. A fénymásolás, az internet elterjedése - hogy csak két viszonylag új jelenséget említsek - egészen új megvilágításba helyezi a kérdést: az érdekek egyensúlya felborulhat. Meggyőződésem, hogy felesleges indulatok nélkül, egymás érveinek megfontolásával új egyensúlyt lehet, sőt kell létrehozni.

We use external fee-based document suppliers whenever an item is not in our collection, or when we have a subscription for only online access to a journal article or a collection of documents. Our licenses to online journals and collections of documents are for University of Calgary use only, preventing us from delivering content to external parties.
Library card: Included with your annual membership is the library card for designated employees, allowing them to borrow in person items from our collection. The card provides access to your account information from our Library web pages, allowing you to renew directly your loans and place holds on items that are out, borrowed by other clients.
